Why boards call
The chair is empty, or the person in it is running yesterday. The strategy is on paper and has not moved — or the objective is clear and there is no strategy. How he works
80/20. He builds or fixes, trains a successor, and exits to steady state. He will not quietly become staff. Week 1 — name the mandate. Weeks 2–3 — unstick the first move. Week 4 — a written note to the owner. Technology, finance, culture and engineering chairs are called through him when the mandate needs them.
